Sanskrit Games ("we", "us", "our") operates the website at games.sanskrit.dev — a free collection of daily Sanskrit word games including Word Jumble, Scrabble, Connections, Match Pairs, Memory Match, Polysemy, and more. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.
1. What data we collect
When you create an account or play our games, we may collect:
- Account data: email address, display name, and password (stored hashed) when you register.
- OAuth data: if you sign in with Google, we receive your Google account email and display name.
- Game data: game scores, session results, daily streaks, and leaderboard entries.
- Usage data: page views and events collected via Google Analytics (anonymised IP).
- Technical data: browser type, device type, and approximate location (country-level, via Cloudflare).
2. How we use your data
- To operate your account and save your game progress and scores.
- To display your scores on the community leaderboard (you can opt out in Settings).
- To send account-related emails (password reset, verification) — no marketing emails.
- To understand how games are played and improve them (aggregated analytics only).
3. Data storage and security
Your account and game data is stored on a PocketBase server hosted at manojdb.sanskrit.dev. We use HTTPS on all connections. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. We do not sell your data to any third party.
4. Third-party services
- Google Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 to understand site usage. Google may set cookies. You can opt out via your browser settings or Google's opt-out tool.
- Google Fonts — we load Devanagari fonts from Google Fonts. Google may log the request.
- Cloudflare — our DNS and CDN provider. Cloudflare processes request metadata for security and performance.
- Google OAuth — optional sign-in via Google. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
5. Cookies
We use minimal cookies: an authentication session cookie to keep you logged in, and Google Analytics cookies. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking pixels beyond those listed above.
6. Your rights
You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by emailing [email protected]. We will process deletion requests within 30 days.
7. Children's privacy
Sanskrit Games is intended for users of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us personal data without consent, please contact us to have it removed.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the site grows. Material changes will be communicated via the site. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
